In a memorable moment for Indian cricket, Mohammed Siraj went past the legendary Kapil Dev on the the list for the third-most Test wickets for India in England. The feat came on the final day of the fifth Test at The Oval, where the Hyderabad pacer once again proved his worth on English soil.
Siraj was India’s most reliable performer on the England tour. In the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, he bowled long spells with unwavering intensity when the team needed them most.
On the morning of Day 5, Mohammed Siraj struck early to dismiss Jamie Smith. Having already removed Zak Crawley and Ollie Pope earlier in the innings, he followed up with the wickets of Jamie Overton and Gus Atkinson. This effort took his tally to 46 wickets in England as he surpassed Kapil Dev. This placed him behind only Jasprit Bumrah and Ishant Sharma, who lead with 51 wickets each.

Mohammed Siraj Creates History in England, India Level Series 2-2
With this performance, Siraj joined an exclusive list of Indian fast bowlers who have done well in challenging English conditions. His 46 wickets not only put him above Kapil but also equalled him with the record for the most wickets in a single Test series in England for India. He took 23 wickets in five matches.

India Pull Off a Miracle at The Oval
England began the final day at 339/6 and required just 35 runs to win the series 3-1. However, Siraj struck in his very first over. He dismissed Jamie Smith and also got the better of Jamie Overton as well. Prasidh Krishna cleaned up Josh Tongue for a duck.
With just one wicket needed, injured Chris Woakes came out despite a strapped right hand. Atkinson kept England in the game but Siraj rattled the stumps to seal a historic six-run win for India. Siraj bagged a fifer.
This victory ensured the five-match series ended 2-2 with India bouncing back to finish strongly.
