Akash’s father was Ramji Singh who served as a government teacher in Sasaram. Despite being interested in cricket, he faced strong opposition from his family and parents to not pursue cricket. His father wanted him to study for a Bihar police constable's exam or apply for a peon’s job.
Akash Deep had one elder brother who passed away years ago. He also has two sisters. His elder brother and father passed away within a short span and thus Akash automatically became the sole breadwinner of his home.

In 2010, he made it to the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB’s) first division, playing for United Club. It proved extremely crucial as the extent of the injury was enough to end his career.
His T20 debut came in 2018 when he took part in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. In the 2019 season he made both his List A and first-class debuts in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and Ranji Trophy respectively.
In the second half phase of the Indian Premier League, IPL 2021 he was drafted into the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) squad. The next season he was bought by RCB in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction and stayed with the team for 3 years. However, in IPL 2025 Mega Auction, he was bought by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
Akash Deeo had to wait quite sometime to get his much-awaited international debut. He was included in the Asias Games 2022 squad as a replacement for Shivam Mavi. The next year in 2023, he replaced the injured Deepak Chahar for the South Africa series, but didn’t get a chance to play.
But in 2024, he got his Test debut in the India vs England series at home. He got the precious news while he was representing Bengal in the ongoing Ranji Trophy series.
Akash Deep suffered a career threating injury while playing for Bengal in domestic cricket. He underwent strenuous rehabilitation under the guidance of Bengal U23 coach Sourasish Lahiri and recovered completely.
