Earlier in May, the southpaw had written to the MCA citing personal reasons behind his wish to move from Mumbai to Goa.

Jaiswal to play for Mumbai again

Yashasvi Jaiswal's NOC has been approved by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), and now he will be available to play for Mumbai. He had previously requested the MCA to approve his Non-Objection Certificate (NOC).

In April earlier this year, the Indian opener had written to the MCA seeking permission with an NOC to play for Goa. However, he made a U-turn on his decision in May. He wrote to the MCA again requesting the association to withdraw his NOC and said he is available to represent Mumbai for the next domestic season.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Back With Mumbai In Domestic Cricket

MCA president Ajinkya Naik confirmed to this paper that the Apex Council accepted Jaiswal’s withdrawal application.

“We have accepted Jaiswal’s withdrawal of NOC application and he will be available for Mumbai during forthcoming domestic season,” Naik told The Indian Express.

Earlier in May, the southpaw had written to the MCA citing personal reasons behind his wish to move from Mumbai to Goa.

“I the undersigned would request your goodself to consider my request in withdrawing my NOC given to me as I had some family plans in shifting to Goa which for now has been curtailed ! So I sincerely request MCA to allow me to play for Mumbai this season ! I have not submitted the NOC to BCCI nor to Goa Cricket Association,” Jaiswal wrote to the NCA.

Jaiswal would have joined the likes of Siddhesh Lad and Arjun Tendulkar as players from Mumbai who shifted to Goa. Goa had qualified for the knock-out stage of the Ranji Trophy. He wanted to have a leadership role, and a switch to Goa would have allowed him that, especially after a good Border-Gavaskar series 2024-25.

“Goa has thrown me a new opportunity and has offered me a leadership role. My first goal will be to do well for India and whenever I’m not on national duty, I will be playing for Goa and try to make them go deep into the tournament. This was an (important) opportunity which came my way and I just took it,” Jaiswal had told The Indian Express.

Meanwhile, the young southpaw scored a splendid century in the first innings of the first Test at Leeds. However, he dropped five catches in the first Test, which is being seen as the main reason behind India's loss at Headingley. During India's practice sessions ahead of the second Test, Jaiswal was removed from slips with Sai Sudharsan and Karun Nair placed at first and second slip, respectively.
