Former Indian cricketer S. Sreesanth has been banned by the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) for making alleged false remarks regarding the omission of Sanju Samson from the domestic competition.
Sanju Samson was removed from the team after he failed to confirm his availability for the Kerala team in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made it mandatory for players to participate in their state teams to be eligible for selection. Sreesanth's comments came as part of a larger criticism directed at the KCA for dropping Samson from the Kerala squad, a decision many believed negatively impacted his chances of being selected for India's Champions Trophy team.
The KCA stated that this decision was reached during a general body meeting attended by the owners of the Kerala Cricket League, where Sreesanth is a co-owner of the Kollam Aeries team.
The statement regarding Sreesanth's ban was communicated to both him and the team he was associated with. However, the franchise owners have accepted the decision. Since the franchise teams provided satisfactory responses to the notices, no further action will be taken against them. Nonetheless, the meeting underscored the importance of exercising greater caution when appointing members to team management, according to the statement.

Sreesanth’s Ban Not for Supporting Samson, Says KCA
Additionally, the KCA clarified that the ban imposed on Sreesanth was not due to his support for Sanju Samson but rather because of the false allegations he made against the board. Alongside Sreesanth, a compensation claim has also been filed against Sanju Samson's father for making baseless allegations against the board.
Sreesanth, who announced his retirement on March 22 after failing to secure a contract in the Indian Premier League (IPL), will no longer have any affiliation with the KCA or any related duties, including owning or managing a team associated with the board.
