Sai Sudarshan (52) runs and Gujarat Titans (GT) skipper Shubman Gill (90) runs yet again proved why they are rated as the best opening pairs in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season. The duo put on a 114-run stand for the first wicket against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens and enabled GT to finish strongly on a relatively flat Eden pitch.
Right from the word go, Gill and Sudarshan made their intentions clear and attacked KKR;s opening bowlers Vaibhav Arora and Moeen Ali. Initially, Sudarshan was the aggressor of the two, and kept the scoreboard moving. After the southpaw's departure in the 10th over, the GT skipper took over and switched his attacking gear on. Number three batter Jos Butter also looked positive on the outset and continued his good form.
The Englishman rode on bit of luck as he was dropped twice. KKR's fielders were sloppy and GT batters made them pay. With a strong total onboard and GT bowlers in good for,. The task is cut out for KKR to hunt this target down.

There was not much to celebrate for KKR bowlers as none of them looked menacing on this flat Eden pitch. Spin twins Chakaravarthy and Sunil Narine went wicket less in their respective eight overs, as Gill, Sudarshan, and Buttler dealt them easily. There was some damage control in the death overs as Harshit Rana and Arora bowled in the end GT finished on 198 runs for the loss of three wickets.
