IPL 2025: Gujarat Titans restart training, as teams await green signal on IPL resumption

Shubman Gill MI vs GT

Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans (GT) have started training ahead of the much-awaited restart of the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season. The IPL 2023 champions had a long training session on Sunday, May 11, in the evening. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning to hold a meeting with the IPL Governing Council to finalize a revised schedule for the restart of the IPL 2025 season, which was suspended on May 09.

Speaking about GT, the franchise and Gujarat Association (GCA) officials confirmed to Cricbuzz about the Titans' net session. According to the report, the GT had a training session of around three and a half hours, starting from 5:30 PM till 9:00 PM. More importantly, a few foreign players, including Kagiso Rabada and Sherfane Rutherford, were also seen practicing amidst some tensions on their availability in the resumption of IPL.

"They were to disperse today, but with the announcement of ceasefire and talk of an early resumption happening, they decided to stay on in Ahmedabad," said GCA and GT members, who were there at the nets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

For the unversed, GT is currently placed first on the points table, with 16 points from 11 games. A win in their remaining three games will seal a playoff spot. However, with the team in prime form, the franchise would be hoping to end the IPL 2025 league stage at the top, as that gives them two shots at reaching the final.
