The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has planned a special tribute to honour the Indian Armed Forces following the successful Operation Sindoor.
During the IPL 2025 closing ceremony on June 3 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, several military bands are expected to perform as part of the tribute.
Military Bands, Top Officials to Grace IPL 2025 Closing Ceremony
The BCCI secretary confirmed to that invitations have been sent to top defense officials, including the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of Army Staff, the Chief of Navy Staff, and the Chief of Air Staff, who are all expected to attend the grand event.
“We are grateful for the constant bravery, courage, and service of our armed forces. We want to pay a special tribute to honour their efforts during Operation Sindoor. The IPL 2025 closing ceremony will be dedicated to the Armed Forces,” said a source familiar with the arrangements.
Operation Sindoor was launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in 26 deaths. The Indian government and defense forces destroyed several Pakistan terror base camps, leading to military tensions between the two countries. This conflict caused a week-long suspension of IPL 2025 as a safety precaution.

After a ceasefire was announced by both nations, IPL 2025 resumed its second phase. The BCCI acknowledged the Indian Armed Forces’ efforts by having players sing the national anthem before matches at multiple venues. Giant screens also displayed messages of thanks, saying, “Thank you, armed forces.”
