Gautam Gambhir, the head coach of the Indian team is all set to return to England on June 17 as per reports in the Times of India. India's Test series against England starts with the first Test at Headingley on June 20.
Gautam Gambhir had to return back to India due to a family emergency as he had to meet his ailing mother. She was previously admitted to the Gangaram Hospital in Delhi.
As per reports, Gambhir's mother had a heart attack on June 11 and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Meanwhile, in Gambhir's absence, Ryan ten Doeschate and Sitanshu Kotak, the assistant coaches, and Morne Morkel, the bowling coach, oversaw the team's prep, with Hrishikesh Kanitkar, the India A coach, with them.

Gautam Gambhir To Rejoin Indian Team On June 17
Meanwhile, a report in Hindustan Times confirmed that Gambhir's mother is still in ICU while the Indian head coach will return to England on Monday, June 16 and link up with the side on June 17.
“Gambhir will leave for the UK today. He will join the team in London and then the entire squad will travel to Headingley on Tuesday," a source close to Gambhir told Hindustan Times.
The report further said that Gambhir's mother is out of danger but still in the ICU as the doctors are willing to monitor her progress. She is stable and making steady recovery as well.
Gautam Gambhir will return just in time ahead of India's first Test against England starting from June 20 at Headingley. Several players have had good performances in the intra-squad match which was played behind closed doors.
Shubman Gill On Captaincy Expectations
Meanwhile, Shubman Gill, in conversation with Dinesh Karthik for Sky Sports, spoke about his discussion with head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar on his maiden Test assignment as captain. Gill was chosen as India's Test skipper once Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli announced their Test retirements last month.
"The expectations, I've had this conversation I think numerous times with Gauti bhai and Ajit bhai. They just want me to be able to express myself as a leader. That's what they've told me, 'There are no expectations" Gill said to Karthik.
