Former India skippers Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma, along with the new ODI captain Shubman Gill and his deputy Shreyas Iyer, are set to join the squad in New Delhi ahead of the team's departure for the white-ball series Down Under, starting on October 19. Notably, the team is expected to leave in two batches.
According to the PTI report, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) claims that the first batch will depart on October 15, and the second one will soon follow, with travel logistics and business ticket availability determining the final departure schedule. The first batch is expected to fly out in the morning, with the second one scheduled to fly out in the evening.

Kohli and Rohit are expected to reach New Delhi before October 15 or on the same date, depending on their personal schedules.
“Virat and Rohit will touch down in the capital either on the day of departure or a day prior,” a BCCI source told PTI.
Notably, the Indian Cricket Team will land in Perth, where they will play their first ODI of the three-match ODI series on October 19, followed by a five-match T20 series.

Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma eye grand ODI comeback
After several speculations that Kohli and Rohit might skip the Australia ODI series, the duo have been selected to play three ODIs Down Under. This will mark the first appearance for the two stalwarts after playing the Champions Trophy 2025 event in March. However, much to the surprise of everyone, Rohit wont be leading the side as the selectors have chosen Gill to lead after his terrific leadership abilities in Test cricket.
Meanwhile, Shreyas will be seen in action after missing out on the selection for the Asia Cup 2025 event. He is also the vice-captain and will play a vital role as India looks to build the core ahead of the ODI World Cup 2027 event.
