Sanjana Ganesan might be a familiar face on cricket broadcasts, but to Jasprit Bumrah, she’s much more than that, his partner, confidante, and now, the mother of his child.
In a recent episode of the Moment of Silence podcast, Sanjana opened up about their life together, sharing how becoming parents changed everything, not just at home, but on the field too. She even admitted that she feels Bumrah has become a better cricketer since their son Angad was born, thanks to the peace and balance fatherhood brought into his life.
From speaking about becoming a mother to revealing how her husband Jasprit Bumrah throws her off during live interviews, she gave an unfiltered look into her life.

Sanjana Ganesan Gets Candid About Jasprit Bumrah
Bumrah and Sanjana tied the knot in March 2021. During the 2023 Asia Cup, Sanjana gave birth to their son, Angad, while Bumrah was away with the Indian team. That experience, she believes, changed something in him and made him a better cricketer.
"When we held him (their baby) in the hospital, my husband was playing the Asia Cup when we were having the baby and then he just flew back. I don't want to say it but I think he's (Bumrah) become a better cricketer after Angad's come around. When you have that atmosphere that you can come back home to and be at peace you can just switch off and be a dad and a husband, it's helpful," Sanjana said as quoted on the 'Moment of Silence' podcast.
As someone who sees the players and their families off-camera too, Sanjana delved into the dynamics between cricketers and their partners and shared how those pairings make perfect sense.
"They are all different. Even these athletes and players are all in the team they all have different personalities. Like you can see it on a field of cricket. So their wives are tailored to their requirements almost. I'll be interviewing a player on the field and then later in the balcony I'll met his wife and I'll be like you know what I get it. It's like yin and yang in almost every situation. You just realise that this is what this guy was missing and this is why she is his wife," she added.
Sanjana Ganesan Says Jasprit Bumrah is Her "Best Gossip Buddy"
Sanjana does not often interview her husband on the field. But when she does, it is anything but straightforward. Even though she is a professional broadcaster, Sanjana admitted it is a completely different ball game when she is on duty and her interviewee happens to be her own husband. She cited an example of her interview with Bumrah after India won the 2024 T20 World Cup.
"Post the World Cup win I was interviewing my husband. I didn't know where to go from a question after a point so I wrapped it up and I've said all the best for the future. I like interviewing him. He's fun to be around. He can tell from my face that I am focusing too much and he is constantly in this endeavor to make me slip out of that role and he'll do funny things and he'll smile or randomly wink and I am like this is not going to work."
There is quiet normalcy in how Sanjana and Bumrah wind down after long days, far away from the limelight. For all the attention that surrounds them, their evenings are like any other couple’s - simple, relaxed, and full of chatter.
"He is my best gossip buddy. Like we'll get into bed and we'll get like chocolate and netflix and we'll watch some netflix and switch it off after a while and be like you know what happened at work today...," Sanjana stated.
